Taking Your Sleep Apnea Disorder Seriously
Your Health is Important
A sleep apnea disorder affects the health of millions of people. Give it any label
you want to: sleep apnea, sleep disorder, or snoring - it's a serious airway problem that can effect the health of both
its victim and its victim's family. One major problem with its treatment is that many people aren't aware that they even have it. For example,
unless you live with someone who complains about your snoring, or who exhibits concern about your
unusual sleeping breathing pattern, it would be next to impossible to even know that you have this health disorder.
Another problem with sleep apnea sleep disorder treatment is that some people don't take this disorder as seriously they should. They may
giggle or blush about it, or they may even be too embarrassed about it to talk about it with others. This approach to apnea not only prevents
effective treatment, it prevents physicians from learning all the information that they can about this disorder, and thus trying new types of
treatment.
To effectively reduce sleep apnea, snoring, an obstructive airway, or palate breathing, our society must recognize the seriousness of this
disorder and approach apnea treatment as diligently as we approach treatment for any other disorder. That means seeking additional information,
admitting that you have the disorder, or asking for help in diagnosing the disorder if you're unsure. It means asking your doctor to check your
airway, the condition of your heart, and the way in which you breathe. If you are indeed diagnosed with apnea, your treatment as a patient may
require additional information and the use of a home cpap breathing machine.
