COPD Stages Reviewed
COPD stages reviewed by many research scientists have given us new insight into
COPD. In fact, COPD stages review results are often used in the search for a cure. COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The condition
is a progressive disease that limits the airflow and the limited airflow is associated with lung inflammation. Most information that you review
will show that the number one cause of the condition is smoking, but the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can also be caused by air
pollution, gases, or other noxious particles in the air you breathe. About 600 million people around the world suffer from COPD.
Information Review
Breathlessness, breathing difficulty, coughing, and chest tightness are all symptoms of COPD. These ailments often keep sufferers awake at
night, causing sleep deprivation and fatigue. There are four stages of COPD, numbered 0 – 3. Stage 0 only refers to people that are at risk of
developing COPD. Stage 1 is applied to those who have mild COPD. Stage 2 is moderate COPD and stage 3 is severe COPD. Stage 3 COPD is life
threatening.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for COPD, but the condition can be treated, and with the right information, it may be avoided altogether. Of
course, the first course of treatment and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is to stop smoking. Medication is usually
prescribed for stage 2 COPD and more drastic medical treatment is needed for stage 3.
