Restless Legs Syndrome
Restless legs syndrome as the name suggests is generally described as a disorder or
syndrome where the individual is deprived of sleep due to agitation of the leg or legs. Some suffers describe the agitation as an itching or
burning while others describe the disorder as deep muscle pain. Restless legs syndromes is not necessarily limited to the night time and sleeping
however, as these individuals may have daytime difficulty sitting in one spot for long periods of time due to the disorders. Airplane trips, work
commutes, long meetings and just sitting quietly can sometimes be very difficult for these people due to the condition.
Some possible reasons for the syndrome or disorder can include diabetes or kidney diseases. The condition can start when you are young but
people generally wait until middle age to seek treatment as the condition has worsened and is likely interrupting sleep do to the leg
agitation.
The effects of the syndromes or sleep disorder can be alleviated by exercise as well as healthy lifestyle choices
including a proper sleep schedule, less alcohol and quitting smoking. Additionally certain medications used for Parkinsons patients have shown to
be effective against the leg disorders.
