Better Sleep Tips
Some Suggestions
Do you consistently feel overtired or have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning? Are
you one of those people who tip or hit their snooze several times before they stop sleeping in the morning? Best of all, have you ever been
sleeping during your morning shower? These are definitely good or quality indicators that you may be suffering from sleep
deprivation and are looking for some quality sleep tips.
Our society has not really encouraged or at best not emphasized the importance of a good nights rest. In business circles it is a badge of
honor to get less than 8 hours of good sleep to show good or best commitment to your career. Another badge of honor is how late you can entertain
clients and still function the next day? These behaviors can lead to a sleep deficit or deprivation that many try to “make up” on the weekends or
holidays with mixed results. One Better Sleep Tip and better quality of life tip would be to consider sleep as something other than this block of
time that you can steal from this day and give back to at a future time.
Other sleep suggestions or tips are as follows:
Tip: Go to bed and get up at the same time each day. Remember that the average adult requires 7.5 to 8.5 hours of sleep each
night. Plan your time accordingly to get a proper rest.
Tip: Avoid stimulants like caffeine and chocolate in the evening. This is obvious and will help you rest better.
Tip: Make the bedroom a quality rest venue and nothing else. No TV, computers, reading or bright lights at night. If you really
want to read in bed then use a low wattage bulb or dimmer switches. A bright light before sleeping will disrupt the brains signaling mechanism as
the pineal gland will not secrete the melatonin required in order to properly regulate your sleep wake cycle.
Tip: Other obvious suggestions for sleeping are to avoid exercise 3 hours before bed, eat a light snack before bed, create a
routine for bedtime, and avoid alcohol.
Finally, if you have a sleep disorder like obstructive sleep apnea or insomnia seek medical attention. Sleep problems have caught the attention of researchers and effective cures are becoming available.
