In most cases, your doctor can review your condition and recommend a good sleep lab. However, if your doctor does not have a recommendation, you should research the various sleep labs in your area. Not all sleep labs are equal – some are better than others – but most sleep labs are able to obtain accurate results and the reports issued from your sleeping study should help you and your doctor pinpoint, review and treat any sleep disorders that you may have.

Depending on where you live, you may have to travel a short distance to a nearby sleep lab for your sleep study or studies. However, because sleep disorders have finally gained so much attention, finding a good sleep lab should not be difficult – and you probably won’t have to go very far at all for a sleep study. Just make sure that you call the sleep lab and address any concerns that you may have during the phone call. It is also a good idea to visit the lab several days before your appointment to get a better understanding of how things work there, and what will be going on while you are asleep.
