Sleep and Insomnia

According to health experts, problems with a sleep and insomnia disorder seem to increase with every generation. But the good news is that health research is finding significant causes and treatment. In order for treatment to be effective against an insomnia sleep disorder however, you must understand that certain health factors work against that treatment, and that these factors must be actively avoided - especially at bedtime.

One of those factors is caffeine. Caffeine is a bitter alkaloid found in coffee and tea that is responsible for stimulating effects, stress, excessive energy and restless behavior. So as part of your anti-insomnia solution, you'll want to avoid the caffeine that's found in these and other products before sleeping.

Stress and anxiety also play a significant role in a sleep insomnia disorder. It isn't possible to avoid stress or anxiety in our society, but it is possible to reduce it to a manageable level. Stress and anxiety no longer need to control you, and with a few management techniques, you can learn to control it instead.

Another factor that brings about insomnia is severe depression (often accompanied by alcohol abuse and/or fatigue). When we're depressed, we often find ourselves in a state of restless sadness - or constant worry over things that are out of our control (a characteristic common among women). This restless depression is rather counterproductive because it actually worsens the depression when we slowly realize the cause behind the depression is out of our hands. Antidepressants are one example treatment for this particular factor which in turn, helps to ease insomnia.
