The Use of Melatonin by Children is Discouraged by The Medical Community
Other Sleep Treatments Are Available
As sleep problems like chronic insomnia,
deprivation, and obstructive apnea rise in a growing yet younger generation, some parents become
curious about the use of pineal gland melatonin and children reactions. If you share this interest, then you must be aware that the
combination of pineal gland melatonin and any child is a use generally dissuaded among professionals.
Mainly because children produce so much of it on their own, melatonin treatment supplements are considered
unnecessary. And not surprisingly, a sleep disorder in children is first suspected to be the result of some other health problem, rather than a
lack of sufficient melatonin production.
Melatonin is a hormone naturally created within the body, and it's secreted by the pineal gland (located in the midsection of the brain) to
assist with the different circadian cycles of night sleep. As a result, it's manufactured, sold, and used as a natural night sleep disorder
treatment for adult sleep problems like chronic insomnia or even jet lag.
Only in cases where a pediatrician has diagnosed a lack of sufficient melatonin production as the cause behind chronic insomnia, should the
use of melatonin be considered and administered as treatment to children. Otherwise, alternative solutions - such as better sleep hygiene - may
be a more appropriate cure.
