Sleep Apnea Machine
Well now that you have a brand new sleep apnea machine sitting before you, you
might wonder how it works. After all, it's a machine! How is that thing going to help you clear your throat and airway so that you breathe while
you're sleep?! That's a very good question and at first thought, it might not appear any smarter than your average vacuum cleaner! But the truth
is, that cpap machine for apnea is a littler 'smarter' than you know.
There are different kinds of nasal cpap therapy machines and we'll describe them in a little bit. First, we want to describe their main
function, which is to help open your throat at night, clear the airway, and breathe without problems. Essentially, a nasal cpap therapy machine
forces positive air through your throat and airway while you're sleep to prevent your palate from collapsing. A collapsing palate is the cause
behind problems like snoring, apnea, and even insomnia.
Sometimes, oversized adenoids are the problem. But a nasal cpap therapy machine uses positive pressure to push air past the things that attempt
to block an appropriate amount of air from reaching your lungs.
Some cpaps come with a humidifier, which warm and moisturize the dry air that it sends. Others use auto-titration or bilevel mechanics, which
means that they adjust the amount of air sent through your nasal headgear mask based on an onset of apnea. Each feature of the cpap appliance is
a positive step towards alleviating your specific apnea problem, even if it doesn't look smart enough to do it!
