Severe Sleep Apnea
- Before The Diagnosis

Severe sleep apnea is a major health condition in a significant percentage of the population. And one of the problems with treating the condition is the secrecy behind severe obstructive sleep apnea. For some, snoring is an embarrassing disorder that we're just not too eager to admit to others. At least, that's how it was for me - until I decided I've had enough and I needed help.

In the beginning, I wasn't quite sure what was wrong with me. Sure, I was tired all the time, but I thought it was due to my age, severe obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Not once did I ever attribute my problems with an obstructive airway, sleeping condition, or sleep apnea disorder. But the moment I thought I might have experienced a minor stroke, I called my doctor and made an appointment.

I explained everything I experienced with my doctor, who suddenly asked me what my nights were like. I didn't understand. He questioned if I had a full night's sleep - and if I frequently woke up throughout the night feeling pressure on my airway. Surprisingly, I answered yes because I did indeed frequently wake throughout the night for exactly that reason. I really felt as though I suffered from an obstructive airway sleep disorder and my health certainly wasn't its best. In fact, my health at my age was no where near the point where it should have been.

Today, my story is quite different. Thanks to a proper diagnosis, a cpap oxygen machine, I have enough energy to get me through the daytime and ensure a full night's rest.
