Causes of Insomnia
Ask Yourself if You are Stressed or If You Have a More Serious Problem
Causes of insomnia can be varied. Conditions that cause insomnia may include stress, emotional disorders, behavioral issues and physical conditions. The
underlying cause of insomnia needs to be diagnosed before sleep problems can be treated. If you suffer from insomnia, you should consult a
physician and discuss any stress, psychological disorders or sleep patterns so the physician can determine the underlying cause or causes for the
sleep disorders. Insomnia, if left untreated, may cause additional complications and affect your overall health
and well being in your daily activities.
One of the possible underlying causes are health conditions that may prevent someone from resting comfortably. Because the patient can
not get comfortable, they will have problems falling asleep and staying asleep. Problems with stress can also cause conditions of
restlessness in the patient. You may be asked to keep a journal or partake in a sleep study to determine the causes of your
restlessness. The results will help greatly in finding out why you are unable to sleep and will suggest possible treatments that will help
alleviate the issue. If you get a full night’s rest, you will have a better overall health and will be able to function better in your
daily activities. Seek help from a doctor if you have a chronic issue with not being able to fall asleep or stay asleep throughout the
night.
