Sleep Deprivation Symptoms
Many people in our society suffer from a lack of sleep. This lack of sleeping could be
related to a career choice that includes night shift, stress or long hours that make it difficult to fall asleep. This sleeping deprivation could relate to a sleeping disorder such as central or obstructive sleep apnea which is a major contributor to individuals who lacked resting ability. Whatever
the reason the individual lacked this resting ability they are probably experiencing problems from this lack of rest that can include short term
memory loss, difficulty concentrating and fatigue. Longer-term health effects for individuals lacking rest can include cardio vascular
disease.
Longer-term sleep disorders are generally related to a physical problem such as central or obstructive sleep apnea. Treatments include a
CPAP machine and mask that assist in falling asleep and remaining asleep and addresses the
problems of individuals lacking resting ability. The machine creates a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for the wearer that if
used correctly can potentially alleviate all of the problems of central or obstructive sleep apnea. If an individual is not suited for a CPAP
machine (perhaps they cannot fall asleep with the mask on)then sleep surgery is an option to lessen the problems of lacking in rest. This latter
option is generally considered when the individual has not slept and does not regularly use the CPAP machine even when they have not slept due to
a lack of discipline or lifestyle circumstances. The latter can include individuals who lacked or who have not slept and travel a lot and find it
inconvenient or impossible to bring the portable CPAP equipment with them.
