Sleep Apnea Cures
Research conducted by the National Institutes of Health has shown that about 12 million
people in the United States suffer from sleep apnia. Sleep Apnia is a condition that causes a
person to stop breathing for short periods several times throughout the night while asleep. Because there are so many sufferers, sleep apnea
cures have been sought far and wide. As with most things, some remedies work, and other remedies do not. If you are looking for a sleep apnea
cure, you should consult with your health care professional before trying any over-the-counter remedies.
The two most common cures for sleeping apnia that are suggested by physicians are to lose weight if you are overweight, and to avoid falling
asleep or sleeping on your back. If this does not seem to take care of or cure the problem, your physician may recommend nasal continuous
positive airway pressure, or nasal CPAP. This CPAP cure or remedy requires a person to sleep
with a mask that is attached to a pump. This remedy keeps the airway open throughout the night while asleep. Because the mask and pump may bother
the wearer, and keep them awake, some physicians may also prescribe a mild sleeping pill as well.
Beware of cures that are not prescribed or recommended by your doctor. In desperation, many people are willing to try any remedy – and they
spend a great deal of money doing so. They may even risk their health further with sleep apnea cures that cause more harm than good. Again, seek
advice and treatment from a licensed health care professional.
