Sleep Deprivation Symptoms
Sleep deprivation symptoms or indicators are fairly obvious from both a mental and physical
standpoint. The most common sleep deprivation symptom is fatigue, exhaustion, and lack of energy, but there are many other indicators as well,
and as the sleeping deprivation continues symptoms or indicators become more severe in intensity.
Fatigue affects our emotional moods. Often, a person who is fatigued may experience a symptom of sadness, anger, or even stress. In fact, many
social problems are caused by a lack of rest. Other symptom of sleeping deprivation include slurred speech, memory loss, and the inability to
solve problems. Prolonged rest deprivation may also result in showing signs of aging more quickly and can even cause the onset of diabetes. Death
can even be the result of sleeping deprivation.
Many people do not realize that they are being deprived of rest. Sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, cause us to
lose needed sleep – without even realizing it. Snoring may even cause us to lose sleep. Many people don’t realize that they wake themselves up
momentarily with their own snoring. They do not remember waking up – or snoring – in the morning. They only know that they do not feel
rested.
If you are showing symptoms of sleep deprivation, you should seek treatment and advice from your health care professional. A sleep study will
probably be recommended. The results of the study can be used to determine what is causing your sleep deprivation and to help you and your doctor
work towards solving the problem. Follow your doctor’s advice, and before long, you will start waking up feeling refreshed once again.
